AI Code Assistant for the Terminal
Your AI Engineering Lead,
Right in the Terminal
A Claude Code and Cursor alternative that brings frontier AI models — Claude, GPT-4o, DeepSeek, Qwen, and 20+ more — into a single CLI with persistent memory, MCP servers, and sandboxed execution. Included with your AINative plan.
Also available via Homebrew and install script — see all install options
Everything you need in a terminal AI agent
One CLI, any model, full agent capabilities — without switching tools or paying for multiple subscriptions.
Terminal-Native Agent
Full filesystem access, Bash execution, and multi-step planning — no IDE required. Your terminal IS the IDE.
Frontier + Open Models
Claude, GPT-4o, DeepSeek V4, Qwen3 Coder, Kimi K3, GLM-5, and 17 more. Switch models mid-session without restarting.
MCP Servers
Connect any Model Context Protocol server — databases, memory, web APIs, custom tools — all composable from your config.
Persistent Memory
ZeroDB-backed memory across sessions. Cody remembers your stack, conventions, and decisions — no re-explaining required.
Hooks & Automation
Trigger shell scripts on CLI events — before a tool runs, after a response, on session start. Automate your workflow.
Sandboxed Execution
Configure sandboxed tool execution for safer agent runs. Permission-based access and full audit logs for every action.
Web & Mobile Sessions
Launch remote Cody sessions from the browser or mobile device. Hand off tasks between terminal and web seamlessly.
Chrome Extension
Run Cody directly in your browser. Summarise pages, extract data, and automate web tasks without leaving Chrome.
Keybindings & Skills
Customisable keyboard shortcuts, built-in slash commands, and a skills system for domain-specific agent behaviours.
Why Cody instead of Claude Code or Cursor?
Same workflow, more flexibility — and it's already included in your AINative plan.
One CLI, any model
Claude Code locks you to Anthropic. Cursor bundles its own model tier. Cody lets you route each request to Claude, GPT-4o, DeepSeek, Qwen, or any of 20+ open-source models — and switch mid-session.
Persistent memory across sessions
Cody stores decisions, conventions, and codebase context in ZeroDB. When you start a new session, it already knows your stack — no re-prompting, no CLAUDE.md copy-paste.
MCP-native from day one
Connect databases, APIs, and custom tools via any MCP server. Cody treats MCP as a first-class protocol, not an afterthought.
Included in your AINative plan
No separate Cody subscription. Start a 3-day trial, then $5/mo, then $5/mo (Hobbyist) unlocks Cody alongside the full AINative platform — model playground, ZeroDB, agent cloud, and more.

Frequently asked questions
What is Cody CLI?
Cody CLI is an AI code assistant that runs in your terminal. It gives you an agentic engineering lead powered by frontier and open-source AI models — Claude, GPT-4o, DeepSeek V4, Qwen, Kimi K3, GLM-5, and more — with persistent memory across sessions, MCP server support, hooks, sandboxed execution, web sessions, and a Chrome extension. It is included with every AINative Studio plan.
Is Cody CLI a Claude Code or Cursor alternative?
Yes. Cody CLI serves the same developer workflow as Claude Code and Cursor — autonomous, context-aware coding assistance — but with key differences: you bring any model (Claude, GPT-4o, or 20+ open-source models) through one CLI, persistent ZeroDB memory means Cody remembers your stack across sessions without re-prompting, it is MCP-native (connect any MCP server), and it is included in your AINative plan rather than requiring a separate subscription.
How much does Cody CLI cost?
Cody CLI is included with every AINative Studio plan. Start with a 3-day trial, then $5/mo, then the Hobbyist plan is $5/mo. Pro is $49/mo, Business is $149/mo, and Enterprise is $999/mo. There is no separate Cody CLI charge. See ainative.studio/pricing for full details.
What AI models does Cody CLI support?
Cody CLI supports 19 coding models including Claude (Opus, Sonnet, Haiku), GPT-4o, DeepSeek V4 Pro, Qwen3 Coder, GLM-5, Kimi K3, Gemma, and more. Switch models mid-session with /config model= or set a default in your config file. Frontier models (Claude, GPT-4o) are available on paid plans; open-source models are available on all plans.
How do I install Cody CLI?
Install globally with npm: npm install -g @ainative/cody-cli. Then run: cody. You can also use Homebrew: brew tap AINative-Studio/tap && brew install AINative-Studio/tap/cody, or the install script: curl -fsSL https://ainative.studio/install-cody.sh | sh. See /cody-cli/getting-started for the full setup guide.
